About
Aldea OREGON is a statewide coordination hub for Latine and Spanish-speaking suicide prevention work in Oregon, funded by the Oregon Health Authority as part of the state's Youth Suicide Intervention and Prevention Plan (YSIPP). We connect Latine mental health providers, community-based organizations, and community leaders across all 36 counties - building the infrastructure so that culturally specific suicide prevention work in Oregon doesn't happen in isolated pockets, but as a coordinated, statewide effort.
Our approach is grounded in familismo, personalismo, and confianza and the belief that prevention is a communal process, not just a clinical one. Through our monthly Comunidad de Aprendizaje, our community material-vetting group La Mesa, the Aldea Oregon Directory, and our newsletter Aldea: Conexiones, we work to make sure Oregon's Latine suicide prevention providers have the resources, relationships, and support they need to do this work well and not alone.
Our Team
Maryanne Mueller, M.S., LMFT
Project Director Maryanne leads Aldea Oregon's coordination work statewide. A native Spanish speaker and bicultural clinician, she chairs the Equity Subcommittee of the Oregon Alliance to Prevent Suicide and is trained across the full suite of OHA's Big River suicide prevention programs. Her background spans NIH-funded community research, next-of-kin interviews through the Oregon Listening Project, and years of direct clinical work with Spanish-speaking clients.
Alexandra Linscott, Ph.D.
Research DirectorDr. Linscott is an Oregon-licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with extensive experience working across mental health and legal systems. A native Spanish speaker, her work includes trauma-focused clinical care, psychological assessment, research, and consultation, with a longstanding focus on traumatic stress in Latine populations. She brings expertise in culturally responsive assessment and trauma-informed care.
Bianey Jimenez, MSW, CSWA
Project Coordinator & Research FellowBianey coordinates Aldea Oregon's day-to-day programming, research, and community relationships. Based in Southern Oregon, she is co-founder of Apapacho Consulting and previously provided bilingual clinical care at Raíces de Bienestar. Her background includes five years coordinating cross-agency crisis response for Southern Oregon's migrant education community, including the Almeda Fire recovery effort.
Myrka Ayala, B.S.
Project Assistant & Research Assistant Myrka supports Aldea Oregon's research and communications work. Based in Hillsboro, she is a bilingual Child Protective Services Specialist with Oregon DHS and an incoming Master of Social Work student at Portland State University. Her research background includes work with the University of Oregon's Dimension Lab studying acculturative stress in immigrant families.
About Our Website Design
Aldea OREGON's typography was a deliberate choice. Our display typeface, Piazzolla, was designed by Juan Pablo del Peral of Huerta Tipográfica, working from his studio in Mendoza, Argentina. Piazzolla built specifically for strong legibility across languages. It felt right that even the letters on this page carry a Latin American design lineage, the same way our program names do.
